FAQs

To save you time I have listed some of the questions I get asked most often. I know this wedding stuff is all new to you and can be rather daunting so let me try to help you get started with some basic info.

How would you describe your style?
I would say it's fun and vibrant. I shoot mainly candid/reportage but with a small percentage of the day given over to more of a fine art touch in the shots of you two. This just means that even though I'm not posing you as such I am looking out for interesting ways to use the light, shapes, environment that we are in to give you the best couples portraits possible. I'm never going to stand you in the middle of a rose garden and ask you to just look at me.
What does an All Day Package consist of?
I'm with you from about 2 hours before the ceremony to cover getting ready, people arriving and the lead up the ceremony. A little bit of time in the reception is put aside for any group shots ( kept to a minimum). Mainly I am shooting candid shots of you and all the guests. I will also take about 20 -30 minutes for some shots of you two. This is often broken up into two time slots. In the summer the light can be quite harsh in the daytime so us photographers love to wait till the evening to capture some magical portraits of you two. A lot of my favourite images on my gallery are from that time. I am a bit fanatical about the golden hour! Aside from that I am there to capture the speeches, guests having a brilliant time and as many candid, fun and cool shots of you guys as possible. I am always looking for the next picture that will mean something now and when you look back on it 10 years later. I am on the dance floor right into the evening after your first dance. I am with you for about 10 hours, For most of that time you won't even notice me except for the bit where I come and find you and say, ohmygod the light is amazing, come with me for 5 minutes! : )
What about group photos?
After you're married we will have planned a little time for a small amount of group shots, this is usually 10-15 minutes max. Of course you want some important shots of you and your family and we will do that. Also shots of you and the bridesmaids and best men/ushers. If you are after a million group shots I am probably not the right photographer for you.
I hate having my photo taken, how do you work around that?
I would say maybe 80% of people that you will see on here have said the same thing and see how amazing they all look. After 20 years I know how to make you relaxed, I don't even know how I do it but I know that I do a good job of making you feel at ease. It's something all my clients comment on. I like to think it's my easygoing Irish way, works like a charm! Honestly though, it's a huge part of my job to make sure you're comfortable, I wouldn't get the shots I do if I wasn't good at that. Don't worry about a thing when it comes to your photos. I always say to my clients too that's it's different on your wedding day, you are on such a high that this shines through.
Are you insured and do you have backup equipment?
Yes and yes, I am insured for more than I will ever be worth in my whole life! I have full insurance and if your venue needs to see my documents ( they sometimes do ) just let me know. I have backups of everything. I have 3 cameras with me and am usually shooting on two. I usually have 4-5 lenses with me. While I am actually shooting I am backing up from one memory card onto another in camera. All images are backed up as soon as I get home too.
We're having a small wedding, can you give us a quote on that?
Of course, I love small weddings. I will give you a quote that reflects my pricing and what I will do for you. I live in Brighton and we have a lot of people coming here for fabulous small mid week weddings that I love shooting,. I love shooting wedding like these in London too and anywhere really so get in touch. I will say though that peak season weekends really are for full all day packages only.
Whats the turn around time for the photos?
6-8 weeks is the usual but probably less in the winter. I will always send you a little preview of 4 or 5 images a few days after so that you have a little taster.
What do I actually receive?
You will receive 500-600 images, fully edited in my signature style. There will be a combination of colour and black and white, mainly colour though. Firstly you will be sent a little highlights slideshow. You will then be sent a memory box in the post with a USB with all the high resolution images on there and a little selection of 6 x 4 prints. All your images will be available to view on an online gallery that you can share with everyone.
Do we meet before the wedding?
Yes, I think it's really important to meet up. Sometimes that's just not possible if you live far away but in those cases we can Skype or have a long chat on the phone.
Can I reprint from the image files you supply us? And who owns the copyright?
Yes, the images are high resolution and will reprint to any size you want to. You can print anything you want from the files. All photographers own the copyright to their own images. This doesn't affect you or what you do with the images at all. It's there to protect the photographer really. Generally it just means that if an image is used in a professional publication online or in print the photographer is credited.
Do you shoot destination weddings?
Yep, love them! I adore traveling and love being inspired by new locations. Get in touch for a brochure and a quote. As a general rule pricing for this is the all day package plus £500
Do You offer albums
Yes, I have beautiful Queensberry and Folio Albums. Get in touch for more info.
How do we book you?
Once you're happy to go ahead I will send you all the booking info which will include an invoice and a contract. You'll pay a 25% deposit to hold the date ( 30% for destination weddings) and the balance is due 4 weeks before the wedding.
